Pharmacy program
The Program is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude of the learners to the standard required by the EOS. The contents of this program are in line with the Ethiopian Occupational Standard (EOS). Learners who successfully completed the Program will be qualified to work as pharmacy with competencies elaborated in the respective EOS. Graduates of the Program will have the required qualification to work in the Health sector in the field of pharmacy profession.
The key feature of the program is the practical attachment/cooperative training, which is designed to improve the pharmaceutical care service at health facilities by assigning students at health facility pharmacy after they complete competencies that will enable them to perform key pharmacy service tasks. The program will have two phases of practical attachment, where during the first phase they will be able to adequately dispense pharmaceuticals, and during the second phase they can perform pharmaceutical supply chain management tasks in the health facilities. So the practical attachment will provide an immediate solution for the pharmacy workforce gap seen in the health facilities.
The college takes generic leaners who have pass entrance exam which is prepared by Oromia regional health bureau with the college and give training by using variety of teaching/learning methods, repeated exposure of trainees to skill laboratories, practical attachment/cooperative training and the delivery of the training in standardized learning modules (information sheets) and skill lab manual/checklists (Operation sheets) for sixteen (16) month including cooperative training.
Mission
To equip the learners with the knowledge, skill, and attitude on identified competences specified in the EOS. Our Graduates are therefore expected to Work effectively with Compassionate and Respectful in pharmacy Environment in accordance with the performance criteria described in the EOS.
Vision
Pharmacy department would like to see respectful, compassionated pharmacy profession who can solve the community health problem by solving pharmaceutical management problem in health facility.
